Mixed Media

I was reading a graphic novel recently that used mixed media, painting with photographs.
Here is an attempt to do something similar. Oil pastel on paper and overlay over scans of b&w negatives.

Walk Free

Walk Free

For in this life, where pain and sorrow have encased us to the brim,
There is a precious fire in our souls that we can keep, to light the way.
The way to a place that is not, a place of dreams and changing thought.
However it is not about the place it is about the trail, as all trails in the end lead to death.
So walk my dear those trails, not with fear but with abandonment and adventure.
For thee thy self is the only guide you can follow, all else is but fainted footmarks.

I like you in blue

Oil pastel on cardboard. This time on a cardboard for Italian imported vine.
I am indeed starting to differentiate between the different kinds of cardboard out there,
their quality, thickness, color, smell. And one would think, or at least I did, that its all
pretty much the same, unlike all those nice expensive papers, cold pressed, cotton, archival etc.

Parasite

By tricking me, you trick yourself.
By testing me, you test yourself.
By punishing me, you free yourself.
But am I not a part of you already?
-Love, Parasite

Once again, oil pastels on cardboard.

Yet more oil pastel drawings

When you shut down, you give up.

Other times, you want to shut down, you want to give up, but no matter what, for some strange reason you can't. Something keeping you pushing back, be it hope, or memories. And then you fail, hurt yourself again, give up for a moment, and start the whole process again. Thinking for some reason that next attempt will succeed.
Is that life or just my own stupidity?

Designs for a chalk mural. Winter Wonderland

The wonderland quality will be achieved using strong, vivid colors, as well as magical characters and an ice castle at the far right of the image. The panorama will be filled with mysterious, big birds, little elves, and of course Santa somewhere up above.
The options are to make it a luscious night scene filled with multicolored lights and Christmas decorations, or imaginative colors like Mark Chagall.
The scenery will be filled with many characters, similar to the works of Peter Bruegel and Hieronymus Bosch.

New age saints

This is a series of oil pastel painting I'm currently working on. It depicts people in desperate situations, people that don't have what we have, but maybe have something else, something more instead...

Or rather a less romantic description would be, people who have a very different point of view on the world we live in.

All the drawings are made with oil pastels on cardboard.
